About This Species

To protect our animals and to ensure they get to our customers healthy, we will only ship orders with Nano Fish via UPS Next Day Air.

The Yoyo Loach, scientific name Botia almorhae, is a great peaceful freshwater fish.  They are natural scavengers and will constantly scurry around the bottom of the tank looking for food. They have a relatively long lifespan for a freshwater fish, living up to 5 to 8 years if properly cared for. They can grow up to 2.5 inches in captivity. Keep in mind that larger yoyo loaches will go after shrimp and snails.

Yoyo Loaches are pretty easy to care as long as they are introduced to a mature, cycled tank. They can acclimate to a wide range of parameters.  The following are our water parameters we keep them at:

Our Tank Water Parameters

PH: 7.2 to 7.5
GH: 7 to 8
KH: 3 to 4
TDS: 180 to 250
Temp: 72 to 75

We feed them a mix of frozen daphnia, high-quality sinking pellets and high-quality flake food.

Yoyo Loaches are my favorite fish! I had one for a while from a local pet shop, then found out they need to be in groups, so I ordered four and they arrived healthy. It’s been a couple of weeks since adding them to my aquarium and they are doing great! Very active and eating well. Since adding the four new ones, my original one has started coming out of her cave more and seems happy now. Which makes me happy! I would highly recommend Shrimpy Business for their quality and healthy fish!

Great shipping, healthy Yoyo

My new Yoyo shipped within the timeframe and they communicated throughout. I ordered 8 and they were packed in twos. I believe they even added beneficial bacteria to the shipping water. I received healthy yoyo that have quickly turned into happy yoyo. I want to note that none of them were skinny and that makes a difference. My previous purchase from another dealer have sold me weaker yoyo who unfortunately did not survive. The nano pellets I purchased are also a hit!

Very cool fish!

I love the new fish, very cool and different. Unfortunately, I didn't see the minimum order requirement and had to order 4 fish instead of 2. Good thing I did though, 3 fish arrived alive and 1 dead. A second fish died the first night. Two fish left seem happy.

Hi Brian, Thank you for your review! Sorry to hear about the 2 fish. I have reached out to you via email to process the claim. Have a wonderful week ahead!

watch your water temps

I got my yoyos about two months ago. The other day, for some reason, my fairly new heater shot the temps up from 77.7 to 81.5 degrees, I lost 5 loaches and one crayfish, cause I wasn't paying attention to the water temps, only the levels. I am heartbroken
