The Yellow Phantom Tetra, scientifically known as Hyphessobrycon roseus, is a captivating and peaceful freshwater fish that is well-loved in the aquarium hobby. It is often confused with its close relative, the Red Phantom Tetra (Hyphessobrycon sweglesi), due to their similar body shapes and phantom tetra characteristics. However, the Yellow Phantom Tetra is distinguished by its golden-yellow to translucent body and a prominent black spot behind the gills.
Like most Tetras, we recommend keeping these guys in groups of 5 or more for them to feel safe in a large school. They will look especially stunning in a planted tank.
Yellow Phantom Tetra are pretty easy to care as long as they are introduced to a mature, cycled tank. They can acclimate to a wide range of parameters. The following are our water parameters we keep them at:
Our Tank Water Parameters
PH: 7.2 to 7.5
GH: 7 to 8
KH: 3 to 4
TDS: 180 to 250
Temp: 72 to 75
We feed them a mix of live baby brine shrimp, frozen daphnia and high-quality flake food.
