Vampire shrimp (Atya gabonensis) are one of the gentle giants in the aquarium shrimp genre. They are a larger but peaceful species and are ideal for Nano aquariums. They color changes depending on their surroundings and other variables, they sometimes appear gray, pink, blue or brown. They feed similar to the bamboo shrimp with mit-like hands that are used to catch particles in the water column. Therefore, they require an aquarium with reasonable flow. They will tend to gather in areas of the aquarium with the higher flow to feed. These are sold around 1.5 to 3 inches but they can grow up to 5-6 inches.

The larvae require brackish water to survive, so they will not reproduce in a freshwater aquarium. Reproduction in captivity has not yet been documented They are peaceful creatures and do well in most water conditions. We keep them in same water conditions as our Neocaridinas listed below.

My Vampire shrimp was well-packaged and very healthy

My vampire shrimp (and neocardina shrimp and mystery snail) arrived well-packaged and very healthy. I haven't seen it much since then, as it hides, but I check on it every other day and appears to be doing well. I'm not sure I'd get another in the future because I like having aquarium buddies that spend a lot of time out and about in the tank, but I'd definitely recommend Shrimpy Business for healthy critters.

Beautiful creatures ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I purchased two vampire shrimp—they’re absolutely beautiful, large, and gentle at the same time. Shrimpy Business never disappoints when it comes to the quality of their animals!

I love my shrimp. It has a great personality and just fun to have. Relaxed guy doesn't bother other fish, he does this one thing when it gets excited, he runs across the bottom of the tank and kicks up the debris and pulls small plants out. Overall fun guy, 10 out of 10 recommend.

I had purchased 2 of these big guys. One did not make it after a molt about 2 weeks after introducing it into the aquarium. The other one, we have lovingly named Bubba. He is huge. He roams the floor of the aquarium and plays well with our corydoras and the pleco, Lord Brussel Sprout. He is super fun to watch with his fans moving around. I have to admit I didn't think they were going to be very big, however, I was a bit shocked and a little frightened of them at first. They are a wonderful addition to our peaceful tank.

I bought four vampire shrimp a while back maybe one or two years ago. Unfortunately three have died along the way but the last vampire shrimp is living his best life.
