The Three Colors Lame Medaka is a striking variety of Japanese ricefish known for its unique combination of white, orange, and black markings—beautifully enhanced with shimmering “lame” (sparkle) scales that catch the light with every movement. This eye-catching medaka is not only beautiful but also hardy and easy to care for, making it an ideal choice for both aquariums and outdoor ponds.
These fish are adult shrimp-safe, however, we recommend having sufficient plants or hiding spots for aquariums with both Three Colors Lame Medaka and freshwater shrimp.
Three Colors Lame Medaka are pretty easy to care as long as they are introduced to a mature, cycled tank. They can acclimate to a wide range of parameters. The following are our water parameters we keep them at:
Our Tank Water Parameters

GH: 7 to 8

TDS: 180 to 250
Temp: 72 to 75
We feed them a mix of frozen brine shrimp, frozen daphnia and high-quality flake food.
