The Threadfin Rainbowfish (Iriatherina werneri) is a small, peaceful, and visually stunning freshwater fish prized by aquarists for its unique, delicate finnage and lively, dancing movements. Native to slow-moving waters in northern Australia and New Guinea, these fish are an excellent addition to a well-established community tank.
The Threadfin Rainbowfish gets its name from the males' exceptionally long, thread-like dorsal and anal fins. Their bodies are typically a light, translucent color with hints of yellow, blue, and green. Males are the most vibrant, displaying their incredible finnage and color to attract females. Females have a similar body color but lack the elongated fins.
