"Scissortail Rasbora" is the common name for the fish species Rasbora trilineata. The name "Scissortail" comes from their distinctive deeply forked tail fin, which has a black and white or yellow pattern on the outer lobes. As the fish swims, the tail opens and closes like a pair of scissors, giving it its memorable common name.
Scissortail Rasboras are highly active and peaceful schooling fish. They are happiest and most secure when kept in groups of at least six or more. They tend to swim in the middle and upper levels of the aquarium, adding constant movement and energy to the tank. They are not known to be aggressive or fin-nippers.
Scissortail Rasboras are pretty easy to care as long as they are introduced to a mature, cycled tank. They can acclimate to a wide range of parameters. The following are our water parameters we keep them at:
