Red Tail Hillstream Loach "Bloody Mary"

Red Tail Hillstream Loach "Bloody Mary"

Description

To protect our animals and to ensure they get to our customers healthy, we will only ship orders with Nano Fish via UPS Next Day Air.

The Red Tail Hillstream Loach (Gastromyzon species 'Bloody Mary') is a fairly newly discovered fish. What makes this fish extremely unique is its red tail and dorsal fin, which makes it standout on dark substrates and backgrounds. This fish is not commonly sold and we're extremely happy to be able to offer this rare fish to our customers. This species is known for its ability to thrive in fast-moving streams and provides a natural algae control in aquariums. With its captivating design and beneficial traits, this fish is a must-have for any aquatic enthusiast.

The Red Tail Hillstream Loach, like other Hillstream Loaches are pretty easy to care as long as they are introduced to a mature, cycled tank. They can acclimate to a wide range of parameters.  The following are our water parameters we keep them at:

Our Tank Water Parameters

PH: 7.2 to 7.5
GH: 7 to 8
KH: 3 to 4
TDS: 180 to 250
Temp: 72 to 75

We feed them high-quality sinking pellets and high-quality flake food.

This is an absolutely beautiful loach

This is an absolutely beautiful loach. I just wish that shrimpy business advertised it correctly. THIS IS NOT FOR AN ORDINARY TANK! THIS IS FOR A DEDICATED RIVER TANK OTHERWISE IT WILL DIE AND/OR STARVE A SLOW DEATH, POSSIBLY A FAST DEATH. This fish needs extremely high water flow, needs a powerhead to be installed in the tank. It needs smooth rocks with tons and tons of algae on it so that it can constantly graze on it because it is constantly grazing day and night. A little bit of algae or something on the walls isn't going to cut it you need to have it separate tank to grow heavy algae on rocks and you need to switch them between the main tank and the algae growing tank. Also the tank needs to be heavily, heavily oxygenated. They come from fast flowing rivers so these conditions need to be replicated. PLEASE DO NOT PUT THESE FISH IN A REGULAR TANK OR YOU WILL ESSENTIALLY BE A FISH KILLER. EXPERIENCED FISH KEEPERS ONLY. These are also wild caught and they do not say but when fish are wild caught it does reparable damage to their natural habitat and some people that live in Borneo and or go to Borneo just to harvest these fish and other loaches and gobies and river fish over harvest these fish and destroy their habitat. It doesn't reparable damage to THE MOST DIVERSE ECOSYSTEM IN THE WORLD. Yes I know I bought one, but this was before I did the research on that. Shame on me. But I do feel the need to pass is information on so you can make the call yourself. These fish will be extinct in 10 years or less I predict and they've only been discovered 2 years ago. Just like the sulawesi Galaxy shrimp. They are gone in the wild now. The saddest thing I know.
