Description

These Red Pumpkin Nerite Snails are not only beautiful, but they are great algae eaters. They eat algae on aquarium walls, plants and substrates. These snails are also peaceful creatures and will not bother other tank inhabitants. We sell our snails at around 1/4 inch in diameter but they can grow up to 1 inch in diameter.

Red Pumpkin Nerite Snails are native to South East Asia and are relatively rare to the hobby here in the states. They are truly gorgeous with their unique patterns. We don't usually carry them so get them while they are still in stock! :)

Nerite snails will not breed in your tank unlike other snails as brackish water is required for their eggs to hatch. Hence, they will not take over an aquarium, unlike other pest snails.

We feed them a combination of our own foods Shrimpy Party, protein party, blanched vegetables (Spinach and Zucchini), and Mulberry leaves.

I received my order of 3 Red Pumpkin Nerite snails within 2 days after shipping, very well packaged with cool packs in the box. This was the first time I had ever ordered snails online for shipment. The snails were enclosed inside a small plastic tub with wet paper towels. I followed the acllimation directions and placed them in the corner of my tank. After 5 days had gone by without movement, I took a picture and contacted Shrimpy Business who confirmed that they had not survived shipping. Gwen asked if I wanted reimbursement to my card or they could issue a gift card. I chose gift card and the bext day received an email with a GC code.

These are awesome

These and the horned have been the best out of all the nerite varieties. They came out of the bag ready to work. I have had some other snails that took days to open up and/or die. These were ready to work. I love them. They are really awesome.

The pumpkin is alive and doing great in a tank with a fancy tailed guppy

Unfortunately the other four nerites; the tiger, the zebra, the Red racer and the batik, didn't fare so well. I put them in a 55 gallon tank with a 12" goldfish who apparently is a serial killer and thought I was feeding him high-end escargot 🥺

These little snails are so incredibly vibrant and super cute on the glass of my tank

These little snails are so incredibly vibrant and super cute on the glass of my tank. I didn't expect them to be so tiny when they arrived, so unfortunately I'm pretty sure that my assassins have been going after them.. they are always around on my glass so I see them! Their color is just awesome.

Three died within the week. Please research Nerites before you decide to purchase them

Three died within the week. They are good looking snails if they live. They're about as big as your pinky nail, in some cases just a tad bigger, and you need to have a tank with already established algae and biofilm or they will starve. Also most of the time they cannot get off their back so don't just drop them in and expect them to turn themselves over. Sometimes they will, most of the time they won't. There were wild caught so they probably been in tons of different water and trips so by the time they get to you you have a little chance of keeping them alive. That comes with all nerite snails for the most part because people cannot breed them in captivity which is sad because they ravage where they live to harvest them. The zebras are so common because they are a bit more resilient than these little guys. Best to research nerites before you purchase them. You would be doing yourself and them a favor.

All 3 arrived alive! I do wonder about these rarer nerites

All 3 arrived alive! I do wonder about these rarer nerites, though, as I've gotten others elsewhere besides here. They seem iffy at best on living in aquariums. Of the 3 here, 1 is still alive and well. The other 2 were doing well but then died for no observable reason. Each were added to a different nano tank (I have 8) that have been going for years. Each tank also had 1 of the more common little Bumblebee Thorn Nerite and they are all still alive, so 🤷‍♂️

Small but pretty

These guys are tiny (~1cm in diameter), but they do have a great pattern and coloring. I find their size to be perfect for my nano tank

Small but mighty

Small but mighty. I love this little snail. I have an orange soybean cruising around my betta tank. It's a beautiful shade of orange. I get to play where's Waldo everyday. Lol. I plan on buying more of these in the future if available. Note: They are quite small. Do not place with predatory fish.

Pretty small but overall satisfied

I was a little nervous when they came in because they’re teeny tiny (about the size of a soybean), but they’ve been thriving since they arrived and went right to eating around my tank! I have several nerite snails and was happy to find a less common color of them to add some variety to my tank!

Cute snail

This was the smallest of the three snails I got, but is probably the cutest.
