The Red Belted Goby (Sicyopus zosterophorus) is a species of freshwater dwarf goby known for its vibrant coloration and active behavior. It is also referred to by several other common names, including Flaming Arrow Goby, Belted Rock-climbing Goby, and Ornate Goby.
The Red Belted Goby are pretty easy to care for as long as they are introduced to a mature, cycled tank. They can acclimate to a wide range of parameters.
Our Tank Water Parameters
The following are our water parameters we keep them at:
- PH: 7.2 to 7.5
- GH: 7 to 8
- KH: 3 to 4
- TDS: 180 to 250
- Temp: 72 to 75
I got three of these guys. They are all healthy and doing great so far. Kinda fiesty too. One is pretty tiny but doing good in my established community tank. Gobies are adorable with their cute little frog face! These gobies are beautiful. Love the coloring. Im sure it will get better when they are less stressed.
I love my little fish . They arrived very skinny and they like to hide so I don't know if they are living still. The guppies are scared of them is there a reason for that ?

Have to be the coolest Goby‘s I’ve ever seen! I absolutely love these guys. They are active and playful. They play with the other goby species I have in the tank. They don’t hide and are out all the time. Absolutely stunning colors on them. Probably one of my new favorite species of goby!
Alive and well
I got my goby in the mail on-time, and the packaging was great. He (or she, I can’t tell) had a big fat belly, and looked incredible once its colors came back out in my tank. These guys are definitely very well cared for before you buy them. I usually feed different live foods, but I was so surprised that this goby also enjoyed flakes every now and then. Couldn’t be happier. I cant wait for them to be in stock again so I can buy more.
The fish made it here in yellow bags that smelt extremely bad. I don't know how these fish were alive. Once introduced to freshwater and clean water, five of them died would not recommend
