The Rainbow Shiner (Notropsis chrosomus) boasts striking colors and an active nature that adds life and vibrancy to any aquarium. With its unique appearance and energetic behavior, the Rainbow Shiner is sure to be a captivating addition to your aquarium.

We recommend keeping these guys in groups of 5 or more for them to feel safe in a large school. They will look especially stunning in a planted tank.

Rainbow Shiners are pretty easy to care as long as they are introduced to a mature, cycled tank. They can acclimate to a wide range of parameters.  The following are our water parameters we keep them at:

Our Tank Water Parameters

PH: 7.2 to 7.5
GH: 7 to 8
KH: 3 to 4
TDS: 180 to 250
Temp: 72 to 75

We feed them a mix of live baby brine shrimp, frozen daphnia and high-quality flake food.

Had one DOA which thankfully was refunded quickly. They were all very pale gray from the stress of shipping but have now turned a dark gray with some flecks of irridesence beginning to show! They are loving my stock pond so far and are swimming and eating well after only a couple of days. Very pleased with my purchase!
