About This Species
These Horned Nerite snails are not only beautiful but they are great algae eaters. This variety will come in Black or Dark Green in color. They eat algae off of aquarium walls, plants and substrate. These snails are also peaceful creatures will not bother other tank inhabitants. We sell our snails at around 1/2 inch in diameter.
Nerite snails will not breed in your tank unlike other snails as brackish water is required for their eggs to hatch. Hence, they will not take over an aquarium unlike other pest snails.
We feed them a combination of our own foods Shrimpy Party, protein party, blanched vegetables (Spinach and Zucchini) and Mulberry leaves.

So tiny and cute! This little baby is one of the smallest that I got from my order. It is so cute to see those little baby spikes, and I will enjoy watching this little dude grow. Active from the moment I put him in the tank and already moving around to find the best spots to hide and eat! No shell damage and very well packaged up for shipping he was attached to my horned zebra baby and they have stayed pretty close ever since!
Arrived in good condition not a single dead one and the got super active after introducing them to the tank where I need help with the cleaning, even though they are snails I did a slow drip acclimation like I’ll do to shrimps or any other fish.

I have gotten quite a few different nerite snails. These 3 babies came ready to work. They literally came out of the bag and jumped on the glass and haven't stopped. The horned and pumpkin nerite snails have been the absolute best for me out of all the variety of nerites.

Unfortunately one doesnt appear to have survived the shipping, albeit delayed not to the sellers fault whatsoever. I do wish more water was used in the shipping process, though I know its common practice to ship in a very damp paper towel for this species. Two are extremely active. Very happy with the seller and have already placed multiple other orders!

Sputnik arrived healthy and hungry! Ready to clean my Endlers tank and has been an adorable companion to the aquatic lily and his tank mate Hoshi the trapdoor snail. They cruise about the heavily planted Endlers tank like old friends.
Ordered a total of 4 snails(more than I needed). They are alive and trucking around my shrimp bowl. They are wonderful! I only wish they would ship at a lower price point so I wouldn’t have to order more than I needed.
I ordered 3 Horned Nerites, and 3 Zebra Horned Nerites from Shrimpy Business. The snails were packaged with obvious care. They arrived in a small-ish carboard box lined with foam insulation and enough packing paper to ensure that the plastic cup in the middle couldnt move around much. Inside the plastic cup the snails were riding on a wet paper towel, soaked in what I imagine was their tank water. They were small (as expected for horned nerites) but VERY active. As soon as I offered them some tank water, they all rushed (as fast as snails can rush) into the water, pasued long enough to soak it up, and then each snail began moving deeper into the cup of tank water I had prepared. Once they were completely submerged I allowed then about 30 minutes to see how they reacted to my water chemistry. Then I released them into my tank. They immediately started eating and within the first 2 hours had cleaned the green powdery algae off of one entire side of the tank, and then they started spreading out through out the aquarium. Obviously these Nerites are very healthy. No broken horns, pitting or other shell damage. I would absolutely buy from Shrimpy Business again. I am very happy with this purchase.
