Otherwise known as the Kubotai Rasbora, the Green Neon Rasbora is a popular addition to many aquariums for its striking green colors and peaceful disposition. Neon green isn’t a commonly found color amongst the freshwater aquarium hobby, which explains why they are highly sought after!
Like many rasboras, their growth doesn’t exceed 1” in length, with both genders being similar in size. Similar to other rasboras and danios, their small stature and peaceful nature, they are readily kept with other peaceful fish of all sizes and invertebrates such as shrimp, snails, and crabs as well. Keeping them in groups of 6 or more will encourage them to display their natural schooling behaviors.
Originating from calm to moderately flowing streams of Thailand and Myanmar, these fish will appreciate well-oxygenated water as well as a planted aquarium to thrive. While not the pickiest about water parameters, they will display their full bright neon green colors more readily in optimal water conditions, which we have below on the page.
Spawning Green Neon Rasboras requires high-quality water and stable water parameters. As egg layers, females distribute eggs amongst vegetation, which are subsequently spawned by males. Adults should be removed promptly to ensure they don’t eat the eggs! Offering hiding places with plants and other aquarium hardscaping will ensure an increased likelihood of fry survival.
Green Neon Rasboras can be fed prepared fish foods such as fish flakes or pellets/tablets, but will readily accept small live foods and frozen foods such as baby brine shrimp, daphnia, bloodworms, & tubifex worms.
