Known as "Doctor Fish" or "Pedicure Fish", the Garra Rufa is a species of fish that has become increasingly popular in the aquarium hobby. These small, freshwater fish can be found in "fish spas" where they help exfoliate dead skin. Besides being great exfoliators, they help keep aquariums clean, by eating left over food and algae. Their peaceful nature makes them compatible with other fish, shrimp and snails. Its small size and peaceful nature make it a great addition to community tanks. They are an excellent cleaner, consuming algae and detritus from the substrate and decor. Great for novice and experienced aquarists alike.
The Doctor Fish are pretty easy to care as long as they are introduced to a mature, cycled tank. They can acclimate to a wide range of parameters. The following are our water parameters we keep them at:
Our Tank Water Parameters
PH: 7.2 to 7.5
GH: 7 to 8
KH: 3 to 4
TDS: 180 to 250
Temp: 72 to 75
We feed them a mix of live baby brine shrimp, frozen daphnia and high-quality sinking pellets.
