Blueberry Tetra or scientifically known as Hyphessobrycon wadai, is a fairly new tetra to the hobby. Adult Blueberry Tetras exhibit a beautiful purple-blue body with reddish-orange fins as shown in the photo. We sell these fish as juveniles and the colors will not be as vibrant, however, they will soon color up when they are older. Like most fish, the males tend to be more colorful than the females. We sell them at about 1 inch in length but they can grow up to 1.5 inches.
Like most Tetras, we recommend keeping these guys in groups of 5 or more for them to feel safe in a large school. They will look especially stunning in a planted tank.
Blueberry Tetra are pretty easy to care as long as they are introduced to a mature, cycled tank. They can acclimate to a wide range of parameters.
We feed them a mix of live baby brine shrimp, frozen daphnia and high-quality flake food.

I ordered 8 Blueberry Tetras and they all arrived alive and in great condition. I had to wait a bit due to weather temps, but that was totally ok and understandable. Because these fish were so healthy I ordered 8 more to increase my school size and they also arrived all alive and healthy. They were shipped much faster as we were not experiencing the cold temps when I ordered the second group. I have also ordered Similis (Smudge Spot) Cory’s from Shrimpy too and they also arrived healthy and all alive and colored up rapidly. All the fish I have ordered were all young, but they are growing. I would highly recommend these folks if you are looking for healthy freshwater fish for your aquarium.mi will be back when I need more fish.
Thanks,
Bev
