Blue Eye Red Neon Rainbowfish (PSEUDOMUGIL LUMINATUS) are beautiful nano fish with bright blue eyes and Red-Orange fins. These stunning fish are are relatively small and can grow to a a max size at about 2.5 inches which makes them perfect for a planted nano aquarium.
We recommend keeping these guys in groups of 5 or more to achieve the best coloration for both males and females.
These fish are adult shrimp-safe, however, we recommend having sufficient plants or hiding spots for aquariums with both Red Neon Rainbow fish and freshwater shrimp.
Red Neon Blue Eye Rainbowfish are pretty easy to care as long as they are introduced to a mature, cycled tank. They can acclimate to a wide range of parameters. The following are our water parameters we keep them at:
Our Tank Water Parameters
PH: 7.2 to 7.5
GH: 7 to 8
KH: 3 to 4
TDS: 180 to 250
Temp: 72 to 75
We feed them a mix of live baby brine shrimp, frozen daphnia and high-quality flake food.

All the fish arrived healthy and thriving. Beautiful fish!
Shrimpy Business is capable of excellent service — I’ve experienced it before — but this last order missed the mark. Shipping took nearly three weeks, communication was weak, and the fish I received didn’t match the stock photos shown on the site. A few individuals arrived with noticeable deformities, and one died shortly after arrival, which hasn’t happened with past orders. I’ll consider ordering again, but I’ll be more cautious and pay closer attention to timing and stock cycles. There are plenty of other, more affordable options available, and it’s unfortunate I had to start looking elsewhere.
Hi Lance, Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you feel this way after 6 orders with us. Looks like your order was placed on 1/3. As per our shipping page, we had a winter shipping pause as it was too cold for us to ship out orders. We do this for the safety of the animals and not to send you frozen ones! Your order was shipped out on 1/14 (<2 weeks later) and arrived on 1/15. I know we spoke via email and a refund has been issued for the fish. But again, my sincere apologies for the unpleasent experience. The team and I will learn from this and prevent this in the future!
All 8 I ordered arrived safe and sound! They coloured up quickly once they were acclimated, and in less that 24 hours they are zipping around exploring their new tank. Very happy with my purchase!
