About This Species
These Batik Nerite Snails are not only beautiful, but they are great algae eaters. They eat algae on aquarium walls, plants and substrate. These snails are also peaceful creatures and will not bother other tank inhabitants. We sell our snails at around 1 inch in diameter. These snails are named after the Indonesian Batik cloth dying technique because of the beautiful patterns on their shells. The stock photo of the snail is just an example of on pattern and color of the snail. The pattern of every snail in this variety will be different, no 2 snails are the same! They will also vary in color, some will have a black base while others will have a golden brown base like the one in the photo.
Nerite snails will not breed in your tank unlike other snails as brackish water is required for their eggs to hatch. Hence, they will not take over an aquarium unlike other pest snails.
We feed them a combination of our own foods Shrimpy Party, protein party, blanched vegetables (Spinach and Zucchini) and Mulberry leaves.
B-grade Snails are snails that have some chips on their shells and/or have more subtle patterns on their shells. They are otherwise healthy snails that can make a great tank cleaning crew!

Arrived much faster than expected. The colors are very neat and the picture does not do him justice. He is almost inverse of the picture advertised and I can’t wait to see how he changes as he grows. Arrived with the others in a wet paper towel and container. Added some water from the aquarium and he was the first to come out and go exploring. Very active and I can’t wait to watch him in the tank!

This little guy is perfect! He is also a pretty good size. I ordered several different nerites for my tank and most of them came either cute and tiny, or cute and giant, but this handsome dude is a good medium size. I will enjoy watching him and the tiny babies grow up and become even more beautiful. Perfect condition, no shell damage, and very well packaged. They even arrived a day early! Within minutes this guy was on the side of the tank being social with his new buddies!
