About This Species

To protect our animals and to ensure they get to our customers healthy, we will only ship orders with Nano Fish via UPS Next Day Air.

Cherry Barbs get their name from the brilliant, cherry-red color of the adult male. This color intensifies when the male is displaying to a female or competing with other males. Females are a more subtle golden-brown with a distinct horizontal black stripe.

Unlike some of their more aggressive barb relatives, Cherry Barbs are known for their peaceful nature. They are a schooling fish and should be kept in groups of at least six individuals to reduce stress and encourage their natural behaviors. You will often see them darting in and out of plants and decorations, exploring every part of the tank.

Our Tank Water Parameters

GH: 7 to 8

All 16 arrived healthy

All 16 arrived healthy. I got these to add to my existing 6 that I also got from Shrimpy B. These are the hardiest fish I have in my nano pond, and once the males mature they are a beautiful red! Great fish, great service. Thanks Shrimpy B!

Happy and healthy

All four barbs arrived alive and young! They have since grown and have thrived in our little tank. Fun, spunky, little fish who live to school about.

Teeny tiny fish, but oh so cute

Thes fish I only have 2 of also, though it says I received 4. They don't look like the picture, but they are red and sometimes can be seen close to the shrimp (they are about the same size as the shrimp)! One day I will order more of these also!

Small and busy fish!

When they arrived, 3 were dead and another died soon after, but the 4 remaining are doing well thus far. They're very pretty and small.

Hi Annie, Thanks for the review! Thank you for letting me know about the DOA, I have reached out to you via email to process the claim. Have a wonderful week ahead!
