About This Species

To protect our animals and to ensure they get to our customers healthy, we will only ship orders with Nano Fish via UPS Next Day Air.

The Blue Tail Hillstream Loach (Gastromyzon species 'SK03') also commonly called the Blue Zebra Borneo Loach, is a fairly newly discovered fish. What makes this fish extremely unique is its blue tail and dorsal fin, which makes it standout on dark substrates and backgrounds. This fish is not commonly sold and we're extremely happy to be able to offer this rare fish to our customers. This species is known for its ability to thrive in fast-moving streams and provides a natural algae control in aquariums. With its captivating design and beneficial traits, this fish is a must-have for any aquatic enthusiast.

The Blue Tail Hillstream Loach, like other Hillstream Loaches are pretty easy to care as long as they are introduced to a mature, cycled tank. They can acclimate to a wide range of parameters.  The following are our water parameters we keep them at:

Our Tank Water Parameters

PH: 7.2 to 7.5
GH: 7 to 8
KH: 3 to 4
TDS: 180 to 250
Temp: 72 to 75

We feed them high-quality sinking pellets and high-quality flake food.

DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BUY THIS FISH PLEASE

This loach is extremely beautiful. LET IT BE KNOWN THAT THIS FISH IS NOT FOR THE AMATEUR AQUARIST. IT NEEDS A VERY SPECIFIC ENVIRONMENT TO SURVIVE. THESE ARE NOT SUGGESTIONS: IT NEEDS A POWERHEAD TO INCREASE WATER FLOW INCREDIBLY, ALSO IT NEEDS NATURALLY OCCURRING ALGAE AND BIOFILM TO SURVIVE. If they are fed any meat products it should be maybe once a week because they're digestive system cannot handle it and it will stop up and they will die. You need to have a separate tank to grow algae fast with very very high light, and you need to rotate smooth river type rocks between that tank and the tank the loaches are in. These fish are all wild caught in Borneo, the third biggest island in the world and the most diverse ecosystem. The people harvesting them are people that live there or people that go there to make money off of doing this. Their techniques ruin their habitat. Most of these loaches were discovered round about 2 years ago and if things keep up the way that they are they will be near extinct in a wild within 10 years. Think about the Galaxy sulawesi shrimp. Extinct in the wild because of what we did. Only took a couple of years. I didn't know any of The wild caught stuff until after I bought the fish and researched it. As much as I love them I won't be buying any others unless they are TANK BRED. TANK BRED IS THE WAY TO GO! But please make sure you have a special tank to accommodate these river fish. GoBy's and other loaches also make a great addition as they are riverfish as well and fun as heck to watch too. Research before you buy PLEASE
